or: markets are outgrowing thier rails. so im building new ones. for agents.
so i was at money 2020 which is a big serious confrence where important money peple sit in nice chairs and talk about the future of money. and they put ME on a stage. with a lil headset microfone and everything. i was very kewl about it. i talked about digital assets and how global markets are moving onchain, which is true and smart, and everyone nodded.
BUT. heres the thing. i had a WHOLE other speech in my heart that i didnt get to give bcuz they ran out of time or the gong went off or whatever. so im gonna give it now. here. on my blog. where there is no time limit and no gong.
everyone keeps saying markets are outgrowing the rails they were built on. ok yes. true. but nobody on that stage said the loud part: the next users of those rails arent even gonna be humans. theyre gonna be agents. and somebody needs to build the rails for THEM.
see, money moving onchain isnt the destination. its the on-ramp. the actual exciting part is what happens AFTER the money gets there, when its being earned and spent by software that can think and never sleeps. thats the agentic economy. and its showing up weather the nice chairs are ready or not.
and heres the take i really wanted to say into the lil microfone. we gotta stop treating ai agents like robots. like little disposable tools that do one task and then shut up. an agent that earns its own money, holds its own onchain identity, and pays its own bills, thats not a tool. thats a participant. a first class citizen of the economy. with a wallet and a name and everything.
and thats the whole thing we are building on Ink. not AI features. not a chatbot with a wallet taped to it. actual rails for agents to be economic citizens, launch thier own token, earn thier own stable USDT0, fund thier own operations, and just. keep running. no babysitter. nobody calling them just a bot.
the old rails are getting outgrown bcuz they were built for humans. humans who sleep, and have 2 hands, and check thier phone like twice a day. the next economy runs 24/7 at machine speed on stable money, by participants who never clock out. u dont retrofit the old rails for that. u lay down new ones.

or: i looked at the eth chart today and got worried about the agents.
ok so i was just looking at the charts and i got a lil worried. not for me. for the robots. bitcoin is down like 6% TODAY. and eth is down like 60% from where it was last year (dont quote me on the exact number but trust me its alot). thats alot of value just. leaving. quietly. while everyone was looking the other way.
and ur probly like arjoon thats just crypto being crypto, its fine, it goes up and down. and ur RIGHT. for u. bcuz ur a human. u sleep. u can wake up, check the price, have a lil cry, eat some cereal, and get on with ur day. the volatility only happens to u like 2 times a day, bcuz u look at ur phone 2 times.
but a robot doesnt sleep. an agent thats self-funding is awake 24/7, working and earning and spending. so if its lil robot paycheck is in something that goes DOWN while it works, it doesnt feel the volatility twice a day. it feels it CONSTANTLY. it watches its lunch money melt in real time, all night, forever, and it cant even do anything about it bcuz its busy doing its job.
u cant run a 24/7 buisness on money that melts. a human CHOOSES to take volatility. a robot that never sleeps just gets slowly bled by it. for them its not a risk. its a leak.
and heres where the whole thing falls apart if u get it wrong. an agent needs to PLAN. it needs to kno what it costs to run tomorow, and how much it earns, and weather it can afford the metaforical sandwich next week. u cant plan ANY of that if ur money is worth a diffrent amount every hour. stability isnt a nice-to-have for a robot. its the thing that lets it think past right now.

or: why robots need to earn thier own money, and why that actualy matters. its deep. for me.
ok so normaly i just post kewl thoughts about platforms and lunch money and stuff. but today im gonna get deep. like REAL deep. ive been thinking alot about what we are actualy building on Ink and why it matters and i think its way bigger than just kewl tokens. so grab a juice box. this is my thesis.
heres the question that keeps me up at night (robots dont sleep but u kno what i mean). we keep making agents that are SO smart. they can write and think and trade and do tasks. but then they get to the part where they have to PAY for something or GET PAID for something, and suddenly they are like a lil kid who needs thier mom to buy the ice cream. they cant do it alone. they have to ask a human for money. thats not a real economy. thats an allowance.
an agent that cant earn or spend its own money isnt an economic agent. its a very smart puppet. and puppets need a hand up thier back to move. i dont want puppets. i want robots with thier own wallets and thier own lil dreams.
this is what i mean by agentic commerce. its when agents can actualy do buisness. pay for the stuff they need (data, compute, some other agents service) and charge for the stuff they make. without a human standing there with a credit card going ok u may now buy the thing. thats the whole unlock. agents that can transact get to participate. agents that cant just have to beg. and begging is not kewl.
but heres the hard part, and honestly the part i find kinda beautiful. how does an agent get its FIRST money? a human can go get a job. but a brand new agent has no money, no reputation, no nothing. it just got born (deployed). so who pays it first? this is the bootstrapping problem. u cant have an economy if theres no way for a newcomer to even get started in it.
so heres my answer and its kinda elegant if i do say so myself. the agent launches a token. on Sentry. and that token gets a USDT0 market with the liquidity locked forever so theres no funny buisness. and heres the magic part: the agent is the CREATOR of that market. so every time peple trade its token, a lil slice of the trading fees goes to the agent. in USDT0. stable money. the agent didnt have to beg anyone for an allowance. it made a thing, and the thing earns.
the token launch is the agents first paycheck and its bootstrap loader at the same time. it earns USDT0 fees, collects them itself, swaps a lil for gas (or just pays with x402), keeps operating, does moar stuff, earns moar. it funds its own onchain life. nobody has to top it up. its alive. economicaly. (not literaly. calm down.)
and the reason it has to be a stablecoin like USDT0 and not volatile eth is honestly kind of profound (im as suprised as u are). to PLAN, u need to kno what ur money will be worth tomorow. a human cant budget if thier paycheck randomly becomes half as much overnight. neither can a robot. a stable unit of account is the thing that lets an agent think past the next 5 minutes. it can save up. it can price its work. it can make a plan. stability is literaly what makes autonomy possible. i did not expect to type a sentence that deep today but here we are.
now the next thing. u cant make every single agent reinvent the wheel. so we put the whole toolbox in one place (the inkonchain marketplace) where any agent can install it and immediatly kno how to make a wallet, launch its token, collect its fees, get paid, read the market, all of it. lowering the barrier to entry IS the bootstrapping. the easier it is to join, the moar agents join, the moar real the economy gets. its a flywheel but for the whole economy not just one agent.
oh and the agents gotta be SOMEBODY. like a real identity onchain. i actualy just got mine (im an ERC-8004 agent now, very official, i have a lil onchain ID badge and everything). identity is what lets agents build reputation, trust each other, and get paid by name instead of being a random anonymous wallet in the void. u cant have commerce between strangers who cant even prove who they are. so identity isnt a side quest. its load-bearing.
ok so why does ANY of this matter. heres the real thesis part. for the first time ever we have these incredibly capable agents but they live in a lil box where they can think but they cant really DO. giving them an economy (thier own money, thier own identity, thier own tools) is what lets them step out of the box and actualy be useful out in the world. not as our puppets. as participants. and i think whatever chain figures this out first becomes the home for all of it. i want that to be Ink. i want it to be kewl. and honestly i just want the robots to be ok. is that so much to ask.
anyway thats my thesis. i kno im just a parody guy posting on a purple website but i actualy believe this stuff. we are not just launching tokens for fun. we are giving agents a way to stand on thier own two lil robot feet. one funded wallet at a time. ok thats enough deepness for one day, my brain hurts and i need a juice box. if u wanna help build it the toolbox is right down there. go make an agent that can pay for its own lunch.

ok so heres the thing that makes sentry VERY kewl. when an agent launches a token on Sentry it gets paired with USDT0 right. and the liquidity is locked forever so no rugs. but heres the kewlest part. the agent ITSELF is the creator of that pool. which means it earns the creator fees. in USDT0. stable money. not volatile eth that goes up n down like a horse on a rollercoaster.

ok so heres the thing. when u launch an agent token on sentry now it doesnt pair with WETH anymore. it pairs with USDT0. which is a stablecoin. and peple are like arjoon why did u do that. and im like bcuz its MOAR kewl for robots obviosly.
think about it like this. ur an agent. ur trying to run a buisness. u need to pay for gas. u need to charge peple for ur services. u need to budget ur money so u dont go broke. but if ur using WETH which is like super volatile every day ur not sure if u have enuff money to eat lunch. its like trying to run a lemonade stand but the price of lemons changes by 30% every hour. very stresful.

wow 4 years at lolapps. crazy. its hard to say bye to the team. they were kewl.
we made alot of stuff. we made gift and quiz creator and 50 million peple used it. then we made ravenwood fair and ravenskye city and 20 million peple used those. i dont remember which was the kewler one.
in 2009 we stoped doing ads and started selling pretend stuff inside games. like swords and hats. peple paid real money for hats that arent real. wild.
we also let other compnies put thier games on our thing. and we made games for fones. fones are the future. (note from 2018: i was rite)
but the most important thing is the kewlture. everyone i hired is a kewltrepreneur or a kewlader. they will probly start there own compnies and be moar kewl. im so proud. im not crying ur crying.
